The NBA Draft

I am pumped about the Jazz's pick in the draft. I had ankle surgery and I have been on my back high on pain killers for the past couple of days, so I have had time to sit and watch the whole draft. I just about lost my dinner when the so-called experts on ESPN were talking about the Jazz's needs and said that they should go with a 2 guard and that they are weak there. Are you kidding me??? What have they been watching and where do I sign up to become an analyst? The Jazz have plenty of 2 guard and then some. The thing the Jazz lack the most is a defensive stopper in the middle ala Mark Eaton. Okur kicks butt and I would put him in the top 10 centers in the league, but he cannot guard a statue. For match up purposes, they need to have a big man and Kostos is that dude. He is 7' 2" and not only is he an inside presence, he has a nice soft touch and has hugh upside. Fez looked good and now Kostos, I think the Jazz are making good picks and I am alrady putting on my D-Will underoos and looking forward to next season. Now the Jazz can ditch the stiff aka Jaron Collins. Collins has made his run and now he needs to go. The second round is going right now and if the Jazz can pick up maybe a 4 or even a foreign point guard that can come over in a couple of years I will be satisfied.

I didn't know Fez played for the Jazz.....I thought he was just an actor on that 70's show.

How is that draft pick coming from a couple of years ago...you know that stud from Stanford....he was awesome. For your sakes I hope Kostos pans out a little better than he did. After all, there might be a reason that all the teams that he worked out for passed on him.

I'm glad they went with a big man. I hope he does pan out to be better than the aformentioned Borchard from Stanford. Chances are slim, but I don't think any team with a pick that far back in the first round is really expecting a difference maker to be left on the board.

Once you get past the lottery it is a crapshoot.

Either way, the Jazz's success won't live or die by this pick. Hopefully he can fill in and be a good role player. Can't be any worse than Collins.

Nice to see you back posting huevon.

At pick 23 you cannot expect much as Dread said, so to get somebody that was a projected lottery pick in almost every pre draft board, the Jazz did well. The Jazz are so young and stacked with young players, that they need to fill holes and as I said in my post, Kosto fills that role as a big body to plug the middle. Everybody passed on Boozer, Arenas, Tony Parker, AK and many others, so I am sorry Tikes, your point doesn't resonate much with me.

I think there is a reason that everyone passed on Boozer. He is worthless when you need him to step up, besides that, for every good player that gets passed on, there are about 8 flops. I just hope that Kosto doesn't end up like Borchard, and there might have been a reason that he was projected so high, yet all the teams that he worked out for just didn't want him.

Borchart had a history of foot problems, Kosta supposedly passed all physicals with flying colors from what I have read. Boozer was pretty worthless in the playoffs, he pulled a Karl Malone. I would trade him for Beasley tomorrow if I could, but he is top five PF in the league nonetheless. The was I look at it the Jazz have top five PG, PF and arguably center. Now they just need to plug holes and learn how to win when they are supposed to and on the road. It would have been a different series with the Lakers if the Jazz would have had home court.
